Blackbaud Security Incident
San Diego State University recently received notice from third-party technology provider Blackbaud that, between February and May 2020, hackers breached its network and unsuccessfully attempted to install ransomware to lock customers out of their data and servers. A description of the security incident is available on Blackbaud’s website.
Blackbaud asserts that any sensitive information was encrypted and therefore not exposed to the cybercriminal.
SDSU places a priority on information security and the safeguarding of personal data, and has been working with the California State University (CSU) system Chancellor’s Office to gather information to determine all details of this security incident and Blackbaud’s proposed remediation plans. As more information is provided by the vendor to the CSU, SDSU will update this site with further details.
