What is Azure?
Microsoft Azure is a flexible, enterprise-grade cloud computing platform offering a wide array of services including virtual machines, AI and machine learning tools, data analytics, storage, and high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities. For researchers at San Diego State University, Azure enables scalable and secure computing environments that support data-intensive research and strong compliance with regulatory standards. SDSU faculty and staff can leverage AWS through institutional programs and credits, with guidance and support available through the IT Division.

How Do I Get It?
SDSU’s IT Division (ITD) maintains a Microsoft Azure enterprise account configured with an Azure landing zone. The landing zone allows ITD to provision new Azure subscriptions pre-configured with single sign-on (SSO) and secure access.
Azure costs for Azure subscriptions are cost recovered by ITD on a quarterly basis from either state or foundation funds. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Cloud Services is executed between ITD and the requesting department or project.
