What is Google Cloud Platform?
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a flexible, enterprise-grade cloud computing platform offering a wide array of services including virtual machines, AI and machine learning tools, data analytics, storage, and high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities. For researchers at San Diego State University, GCP enables scalable and secure computing environments that support data-intensive research and strong compliance with regulatory standards. SDSU faculty and staff can leverage GCP through institutional programs and credits, with guidance and support available through the IT Division.

How Do I Get It?
SDSU’s IT Division (ITD) maintains a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) enterprise account configured with a GCP landing zone. The landing zone allows ITD to provision new GCP projects pre-configured with single sign-on (SSO) and secure access.
GCP costs for GCP projects are cost recovered by ITD on a quarterly basis from either state or foundation funds. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Cloud Services is executed between ITD and the requesting department or project.
