What is Azure Files?

Azure Files is a cloud-based storage service that provides fully managed, serverless file shares accessible via SMB and NFS protocols. It enables concurrent mounting from cloud or on-premises deployments across Windows, Linux, and macOS, supports Azure Kubernetes Service integration, and offers local caching through Azure File Sync for hybrid performance. Migration tools like Storage Migration Service and Azure File Sync ensure a smooth, downtime-free transition from existing servers. SDSU faculty can contact the IT Division for help and more information.
