What is Security Consultation?

The SDSU IT Security Office (ITSO) offers security consultation services to assist faculty, staff, and researchers in safeguarding university data and systems. These services encompass risk assessments, policy guidance, and compliance support, particularly for research projects handling sensitive information such as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). ITSO also helps interpret and implement university-wide security policies and practices, including data classification, endpoint protection, and acceptable use standards. Faculty can access these services by contacting the ITSO directly through the SDSU IT Security website, by emailing [email protected], or by calling (619) 594-5200 to request a consultation and ensure their research and systems meet security requirements.
